White's Electronics, I recently went on an invitational hunt called Digging in Virginia. The hunt is a 3 day hunt. This particular hunt was in an 1862-63 winter camp during the Civil War. I use an MXT on a regular basis and on day 1 of the 3 day hunt I used the MXT with an Eclipse DD 6x10 coil. My plan was to move through the trashy areas and along the fence rows to see what I could find. A half hour into the hunt I got a good plate signal and popped up a breast plate. I continued to hunt the rest of the day and found some more buttons, bullets & coins. The day before the hunt I had purchased a White's TDI. So day 2 would be the test. I took the TDI to the same area where I was hunting the day before and started to hunt. Right off the bat there were some quite deep signals. It did not take long for me to realize that this thing was a brass magnet. I was finding deep brass targets for a few hours when I decided to move onto a thick wooden area. After I would clear some brush I would check it with the TDI. That's when I heard that whisper of a good signal. I located my target and started to dig. I got down about 10 inches and started finding some glass shards and a little ash. Checked the hole and the sound grew louder. After hand digging another 4 - 5 inches there was the target. My second breast plate for the hunt, it was 14 - 15 inches deep. Wow! The third day I was already feeling confident with the TDI in the mineralized ground of Virginia. I located a part of a field that very few people were having much luck in and decided to take the TDI in there for the test. Well I must say it passed with flying colors. The deep brass targets were reading loud and clear. I must say I was skeptical about the TDI's ability to locate those deep targets, but I was wrong. That machine is awesome! Mike |
